Griffin House School provides an outstanding education in a happy and nurturing environment where every pupil is exceptionally well cared for.
Welcome to Griffin House Preparatory School
At Griffin House we place great value on giving pupils the opportunity to flourish in all areas of school life. Throughout the school, we promote an atmosphere where a high level of achievement is valued. We aim to create a sense of happiness and warmth in which pupils are motivated to work and play to the best of their abilities. Both inside and outside the classroom, we generate a sense of vitality based on the principle that learning is fun.
The needs of our pupils are central to all that we do and we know that their success, both now and in the future, will be built on foundations of happiness and security and so we tailor our teaching to the needs of every child.
Our small class sizes and individualised learning environment ensures that your child will be given the attention and support they deserve to excel and have an exceptional education. Our dedicated teaching staff provide a wealth of opportunities for every child to find their passion and reach their potential in the classroom, on the sports field, in the arts and as caring and kind human beings. We are proud of our excellent local reputation and our ability to unlock your child’s full potential, preparing them for the next stage in their academic life.
We consider ourselves to be very privileged that parents have entrusted us with the care and education of their children and we value the contribution that parents make to the life of the school. Griffin House is a very happy community and I would be delighted and privileged to show you around our school and talk to you about how wonderful it is!

We guide our pupils to become respectful, curious and tolerant, with the ability to learn independently and engage joyfully in their learning. We also encourage our pupils to grow as a whole person, ensuring they develop self-confidence and become thoughtful and valuable members of the community.

We loved welcoming author Chris Smith to Key Stage 2 this term. Our pupils were captivated as he shared his brand-new book inspired by the Famous Five, along with stories from his writing journey and his wonderfully unusual sources of inspiration!
A creative workshop featuring a weird guinea pig sparked plenty of laughter, and an extract from The Twits Next Door had everyone in stitches! Signed books and inspired young writers made it a visit to remember! 📚✨ Thank you again @chrissmithstagram !!

We are so proud of our Years 4 to 6 pupils for their fantastic results in the UK Bebras Challenge!💻
Eight of our pupils placed in the top 10% nationally with special congratulations to Thomas and Teddy who scored ‘best in school’ in their respective age categories, and William and Grace who scored in the top 600 in the country. As if that wasn’t enough, Thomas scored the maximum score available which is a remarkable achievement given the number of pupils who participated (nearly 33,000)!🌟👏
We also wanted to give a huge thank you to Ms Murali for joining us on Monday and sparking curiosity and ambition in our Year 3-6 girls! She didn’t just share stories of incredible women making waves in STEM right now, she opened our children’s minds to the limitless possibilities a career in technology can offer. Her words empowered our girls to believe in themselves and see that they, too, can shape the future of STEM!

Year 5 have been busy putting their engineering skills to the test! 🚗🎈
Over the past two lessons, they designed and built balloon-powered cars using toilet roll tubes, bottle caps and straws. Although powering the cars with a balloon proved trickier than expected, our young engineers didn’t give up, they analysed what went wrong and already have a clever improvement planned for the New Year!
Plenty of problem-solving, teamwork… and some very exciting races! ⭐🔧
