Maths

We aim for our children to foster a love of maths and encourage a growth mind-set where they are not afraid to make mistakes, take on challenges and persevere.

Children are given opportunities to experiment, discuss their thinking and ask questions to deepen their understanding. They participate in a range of practical activities, games, and investigations, alongside the traditional practice of maths.

The children develop their fluency, reasoning, and problem- solving skills through careful sequencing of lessons. Those who are able mathematicians are given challenging problems which encourage them to apply skills to new situations and take risks.

We aspire to ensure all children leave Griffin House with a positive attitude towards the subject and feeling confident in their own ability.
