Community Spirit

The unique, supportive community at Griffin House is one of the most appreciated aspects of school life for many families and staff members.

We also feel that it is important to form relationships with our wider community. Our close links with our sister-school, Crown House in High Wycombe, has been invaluable to both schools with opportunities for our children to build their confidence and social skills in peer gatherings and friendly competition. Our Form VI children go on an exciting annual ski trip with Crown House during the spring term and we also hold regular inter-school challenges and weekly sports fixtures. Likewise, we tie these sports fixtures in with matches against other local schools.

Our staff have also been working to create opportunities for our younger pupils to engage with other members of the community through regular visits to local care homes, such as Avondale Care Home in Princes Risborough. This helps our children develop healthy social skills while engaging with the residents in activities like singing, arts and crafts, and reading. Our KS2 staff and older children also work with the local church to put on Christmas and Easter Singing Services for our parents to come and enjoy.

"Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and support. We feel you have given him the best possible start to school, such a positive experience and bringing out the best in him."
Parent Pre School 2017

Alongside the various other fund-raising activities that we all engage in throughout the year, our school staff and Friends of Griffin House (FOGH) parent group also foster links with specific charities and causes, such as:

  • Saunderton Lodge- every year our families support this local charity with donations for the families spending time at Saunderton Lodge over Christmas
  • Rotary Shoebox Appeal- beside the Saunderton Lodge donations, we also arrange shoebox Christmas gifts for children in Eastern Europe
  • Poppy Appeal- we also work with a local coordinator to fund-raise for the Royal British Legion each year

Please feel free to view our Admissions section to find out more about FOGH and how to get involved.
