What Our Parents Say

The Parent Partnership

The first teacher is the parent. The second is the teacher. The third is the environment. At Griffin House we strive to embed this collaboration in our practice.

Our parent partnership is crucial to a successful experience in Early Years and is something we take great pride in. From updates via Tapestry and parent meetings, to daily catch-ups during drop off and pick up, it is key that we foster an open, positive dialogue.

Children and parents are encouraged to share their experiences from home and likewise, have a window into what they are doing at school. Indeed, this is key for children to make links in their learning and start to piece together their world.

  • At Griffin House, we invite you to chat to staff when you drop your child off in the morning or pick up at the end of a session, sharing news or maybe worries about your child.
  • At times, you may prefer a longer discussion in which case we can arrange a mutually convenient appointment with the teacher.
  • We offer termly parent consultation meetings that provide opportunities to look at your child’s learning and development and work together to support their progress, at home and at school.
  • At the end of each academic year, we provide a detailed, written report covering all 7 areas of learning, the Characteristics of Effective Learning (how your child learns) and their next steps.
