French
French is taught by specialist teachers from preschool all the way to Year 6. The teaching of French provide an appropriate balance of spoken and written language. The main focus of learning is on communication : Pupils are learning to express themselves from a spoken and written point of view (KS2) Both in speaking and writing, pupils are linking words and images and progress to making sentences, reading and understanding texts. Pupils are learning to ask and answer questions, as well as expressing their opinions.
French is taught through a number of different strategies such as Singing, Role play, Listening to music and gaining an understanding of French traditions and culture. Excitedly since March 2023 Griffin has developed a French Pen’s pal correspondence with a primary school based in South of France!
