Outdoor Learning

Roald Dahl once said, “The more risks you allow children to take, the better they learn to take care of themselves.”

The benefits of high-quality outdoor learning experiences quickly become apparent when the children are given the opportunity to take part in risk-assessed, but not risk-free activities.

Our wonderful external facilities allow our children (and teachers) to take their learning outside wherever possible and allows the children to develop:

  • Reflective and inquisitive thinking along with problem-solving approaches in ‘real’ situations,
  • Resilience and adaptability in occasionally adverse circumstances
  • A love, appreciation and respect for nature and all that is living
  • An understanding of how we can look after our environment
  • Self-awareness, confidence and self-esteem
  • Collaborative-working and communication skills
  • Gross and fine-motor
  • A lifelong love of the outdoors
  • Positive mental and physical health.

"Each child is clearly catered for as an individual yet also brought together into the group dynamic at their own pace; allowing them to become social rather than solitary beings. I am continually amazed at the insight and understanding of my child"
