Last Friday, our Early Years unit celebrated the start of the Chinese New Year, the year of the rat.
Amongst the activities we made a 3D dragon head, practised using chopsticks, made ‘bamboo’ books and Chinese lanterns.
The children enjoyed watching videos of people celebrating this event both here in the UK and in China. We then recreated a dragon dance; playing instruments, moving as one dragon and singing all the way up to the tennis courts… much to the amusement of Form II who were doing PE with Mr Walford!!
We have discovered how the years were named and enjoyed playing games about the animals crossing the river.
We wish everyone a happy and prosperous year, whatever their customs.
